Podcast discovery is the hardest nut to crack in the industry. I’m here to help you with that. I write to celebrate audio, storytelling, and the medium of podcasting.
Everyone deserves to find good audio. When I write about a podcast, I’m writing for the listener to find a good show, and to tell them why why it’s one they should listen to.
For five years I’ve been covering all sorts of podcasts at Mentally? A Magpie. It’s time for a little upgrade as what Magpie was going to be, was not the Magpie it became. So as of 2026, I am writing as Magpie Podcast Review.
I have, and still will, cover all sorts of podcasts - new, old, indie, and beyond here. I want to write about podcasts we can have a conversation about, while celebrating the amazing art and creativity in the industry.
I have a background in design and production theatre, and also a degree in Spanish. For years I was at the center of theatrical productions, being involved and around conversations about motivation, justification, design choice, and more. In a different life, I would have been a dramaturg. I apply what I learned about the art of storytelling through theatre to podcasting.
